After two days of wearing jeans, it's back to skirts and dresses. It has been over a year since the last time I wore this skirt. Too long actually because I really like the shape and length of it and I should be wearing it more often. Unlike the last time I wore it, I didn't need tights or a jacket. But with the crazy end of March weather we've been having for the past week, both items are a must.
I'm also done with my blunt bangs. I don't like having to style it and having to brush them from my eyes all the time. I think there's a reason why I only have them every couple of years. Going to grow them out then it's back to side bangs from for me.

Three Chords

RuffleTop: Forever 21
Polka-dot Cardigan: Express
Boyfriend Jeans: Old Navy
Black mini-wedges: Payless
Necklace: Express

It was my last day off before a six day work week and the crazy last minute Christmas shoppers. Did I mention that I work 4pm-1am for four of those days? Awesome...not. So basically I woke up at 9am, but stayed in bed until noon watching TV and playing Angry Birds on my iPod. Eventually I got out of bed and starting getting things ready for my sisters visit next week. (yay!) Then I made my way to the library to drop off some books and DVDs. I also did some thrifting at my local Goodwill. It's been two months since I last stepped into a thrift store, so I spent a good hour or so exploring. While I was there I spotted this painting in the home goods area.

I thought about getting it, but I didn't have anywhere in my room to put it. But now when I think about it, I should have gotten it. Plus it was only $8 bucks. Argh. I'm going back to Goodwill tomorrow after work in the hopes it will still be there. So while I came home Bambi paintingless, I did end up getting a dress, cardigan, and jacket. I also got this...

A ukulele! Ok, it's a more like a child size starter guitar and it's horribly out of tune. But I can pretend that it's a ukulele until I get my real one. This makes up for the child sized accordion I almost got at the thrift store last year, but someone else got to it first.
I Hate when that happens, don't you?

Bonus! Jimmy Eat World was on Conan last night.
 Here's a video of them performing. :)
Oh and when a guy wears a button up under a v-neck sweater = swoon. :P

Thrfity Finds

I had to go help out at another store today, which wasn't too bad. But I saw a Goodwill as I was driving to the store and knew exactly where I was going  after work.

This Goodwill did not disappoint. It was two floors, with the top one being their boutique section. There was so much too look at, but not enough time. However, I did manage to score some really amazing finds.

I almost didn't get this because there was no price tag on it. Without a price, they couldn't sell. Luckily the nice lady at the register talked to the manger and I was able to buy it. It's going to be my new beach bag,

Yet another bag just waiting to be taken to a good home. Such a fun bag. Inside there's a label stating that it's "Offically Certified & Approved by Pan American World Airlines." Basically, if I happen to reproduce this and get caught, jail would be my new home. :P

My ''blue-steel" pose :P

The first thing that came to mind when I saw this hat, was it would be something I would see in an Audrey Hepburn movie or in Mad Men. It's such a glamorous looking day hat. Unfortunately, I literally have a big head and doesn't fit. So instead of hording it for myself, I'm thinking that this might be the catalyst for finally starting my own Etsy shop.

I love the gray ombre bow with the navy netting over it.

I also bought a pretty bright coral dress with covered buttons down the front. I didn't take a picture of it because my camera battery died before I could. But after I give it a nice wash and find a slip to go underneath, I'll do an outfit post on it.

I'm helping out at the same store next week, so I will definately make a trip to this Goodwill.

Thrifting Finds and a Special Purchase

Went thrifting today and I picked up a few cute things.

Red flutter sleeved-top with cute little anchors on it.

Blue and white rose print dress.
It's a little longer than I would like, so it will be shortened.

Beautiful pink beaded gown. I can picture a young Loretta Lynn or Dolly Parton wearing this while performing at the Grand Ole Opry. It's from Jake Bryan and after doing a little research found out it was a clothing line from the 60's/70's. I've been thinking about opening up an Etsy shop and when I do have one, this dress will be in there.

I also ordered this today....

The iPod Touch!

I got sucked into the iPad hype. But after really thinking about it, I decided that the iPod Touch would be best for me. Helps that someone brought me back down to earth about what I really wanted out of device like this. :P
I ended up getting the 64GB and I got a pretty good deal through my work.
Can't wait to get my hands on it!

Why do you let me stay here?

Had the day off from work, so I did the usual. Went to my favorite thrift store and then my favorite cupcake place. Even though it's the Goodwill, I always find some really cool stuff. Maybe because it's right across the street from a Seniors Citizens Community.

I found two dresses that look like they are from the 6o's and 70's. The first one is a cream lace dress with elbow length sleeves. It has some cute black velvet detailing on the sleeves. It appears to be handmade and it's also quite dingy looking, so I'm trying to find a way to clean it up without ruining the dress.
I've heard that Oxyclean works, but I have never tried it before. Anyone have luck using this product?

The other dress is a pretty purple faux wrap-style dress. It has a little fabric belt and is the perfect dress for summer.

Of course after a trip to the thrift store, a visit to the cupcake shop is due.

This week I got the Tickled Pink (left) and Hummingbird (right) cupcakes.
The Tickled Pink is a
strawberry cake topped w/ a fresh strawberry buttercream frosting and is one of thier everyday flavors while the Hummingbird is their cupcake of the day. That one is a vintage spice cake w/ a hint of fresh banana and pineapple topped with our dense cream cheese frosting. With a cold glass of milk, they are very scrumptious.
Plus I go there once a week, so it's not too bad.

Also changed my blog header. What do you think?

Thrifting and Cupcakes

Went thrifting the other day and nabbed some pretty cool finds. The first one is a knit navy blue dress with gold studs and a small scooped back. It has this 60's feel to it, something Joan Holloway might wear. I also got a cute faux leather shoulder bag and a Gucci wallet (probably fake).

I also went to my favorite cupcake shop in the area and had Love Bunny and Margaritaville cupcake.

The Love Bunny, background, is a carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. The Margaritaville, foreground, is a white cake with lime frosting and in the middle of the cake is a margarita filling. Both were very delicious, especially with a cold glass of milk.

"It's how the hustle goes, see what the jukebox knows..."

After my eventful concert experience and on the second day of three day weekend, I decided to do some thrift store shopping at the local Goodwill and scored some great deals. I found two really cute light wool blazers that were 50% off. The first one is this navy and green plaid. They have some major shoulder pads that I plan on taking out.

I also got this really cute bluish-gray blazer. It's a little tight on the arms but it was too cute to pass up,
so I plan on giving it to my sister.

I also got some new shoes. I've been eying them for some time and today during my lunch hour, I went to the Famous Footwear two stores away from where I work and bought them. Luckily they were on sale and with my 20% off coupon, I got them for around $50 bucks. Can't wait to wear them.

They have this 30's/40's vibe to them with the patent leather and ruffles down the front. I think they would look really cute with some jeans or khakis with the cuffs rolled up with a shirt and blazer/cardigan.

One more thing: I can just kick myself for not looking up when this was taken. I'm in the front row looking down next to the bald guy. I think I was trying to get a guitar pick or something. :-P
