I Could've Been Your Girl

The video for "I Could've Been Your Girl" by She & Him, directed by Zooey Deschanel, came out yesterday and what can I say but like all their other videos, adorable.

Copycat... I Mean Copies

Dwight: [about the Scranton Strangler standoff] Ugh, they shouldn't televise this. It only encourages copycats.
Angela: Just say "Copies." Why do you have to drag cats into this?

I recently was perusing the 2011 Resort collection on Style.com
when I came across this look from Rebecca Taylor.

Much like the J.Crew outfit I recreated during the 30x30 challenge,
I did the same with the outfit above and got this...

Striped Sweater: Old Navy
Dress (worn as a skirt): Gap
Bow Bracelet (which is now missing *tear*): H&M
Black Mini-Wedges: Payless

Mine looks a little more girly with the longer hemline and wedges. But add some boots, a shorter hemline and maybe a leather jacket and it can have the downtown cool look.

I love the feeling when I'm able to recreate looks I like with the stuff that's already in my closet. Score!
Also I know this another work break room shot, but hopefully I'll get an outdoor shot in soon. Although the pictures are a little dark, at least the lighting is 100% better than in my room which casts a yellowish tone. Plus I still haven't been caught yet. I have the mental sign in my head much like the no accidents in such and such days. Mine would say three outfits with no embarrassing moments!

As you can probably tell, I'm in the process of re-doing my blog. It's about time my blog needed some freshening up. So in the next 2 weeks, I'll be looking up HTML codes figuring out how to make my blog as awesome as the ones I read on a daily basis. Oh and I'll have an new blog header which is going to look really awesome.

You know what else is awesome?
The new She & Him video for "Don't Look Back." I love the intro to the video, like one of those 60's informational videos. Plus Zooey is cute, as usual.
I also want to learn the dance at the end. :P

Crazy good version of Screamin' Jay Hawkins "I Put A Spell on You."

Teaming up with Conan for "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.
They, or at least Zooey, needs to do a Christmas album stat!

Oh and Zooey has a tumblr page. Plus she's been posting more fequently on Twitter.

In The Sun

For the most part, I usually decide what I'm going to wear that day. It can take me 15 min to even an hour figuring out what I'm going to wear. But Sometimes, you'll see an outfit on someone that you want to recreate for yourself.

The outfit in question is Zooey Deschanel's for the She & Him video for "In the Sun."

I just like the simplicity of it but still has that school girl charm. After all, the video is set in a school.

After going through my closet, I found some items that have the same feel to hers.
Skirt and Top: Old Navy
Black Belt: Thrifted
Necklace: American Eagle
Watch: Target (didn't wear it in the video, but I needed to for work.)

I liked the way it turned out. The only thing I would change is to make the top more fitted. I had to keep adjusting it. I also didn't wear tights. I would die wearing them in the 80 degree weather. So I opted for some black opened-toe shoes that you can't see in the picture.

Have you ever recreated an outfit that you saw on someone?

Cuteness Overload

The new video for She & Him's "In The Sun" is out and it's so adorable. It reminds me of the video she did with Joseph Gordon Levitt for "Why Do You Let Me Stay Here?." But this time around she's trying to impress a disinterested M.Ward with her dancing skills. Add background dancers, a school setting, and hula hoops and you have one really cute video. I just love her dress in the end of the video!

Blue Skies

Cardigan: (Christmas gift) Kohls
Top and Necklace: Forever 21
Jeans: Old Navy
Watch: Target
Heels: Kohls

Here's my version of cuffed jeans/pants with heels that I have been seeing in on other blogs lately. I don't wear heels that often and after wearing them for 8 hours at work, my feet were killing me. They were 2 inch thick heels, so I didn't think it would be so bad. I'll just have to wear heels more to get used to them and invest in some really good insoles.
Of course the sun has to make it's appearance the last few days while I have work before my three day weekend. Then it's rain for the next two days. At least I'm going to keep my plans local for those two days. I'm not a big fan of driving long distances in the rain ever since I saw a car spin out in front of me on the freeway a few years ago. Thankfully, it didn't hit any other cars.
I have some sewing projects planned (perhaps a dress!), going to watch Alice in Wonderland in 3D and The Oscars. Monday is a mini-road trip to visit my friend in San Diego.

There's this sushi place by my work that almost a year after putting up their opening soon sign, finally opened. So I decided to check it out and go there for lunch. I have to say it was worth the wait. I got their chicken teriyaki and assorted sushi combo to go. The chicken teriyaki came with rice, salad with really good spicy dressing, and orange slices. For the sushi, it was 4 California rolls and a tuna, salmon and shrimp sashimi. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. I hope they start doing an all you can eat special there because I will definitely go back.

I also got my Amazon order today. A day earlier than expected. Sweet. It consisted of  Season Three of The Guild, the Dr. Horrible soundtrack, and a 45'' of  She & Him's new single "In the Sun."
Listened to the cd to and from work, going to watch season 3 this weekend and once I get a record player listen to the 45''.

Hope you have a great weekend!

Looking Forward: March

We're heading into March already and I can't be more happier.

Spring

I always look forward to this season and the next three months in particular. I just love how the flowers are blooming and everything is green. Plus it's still warm, but not scorcing hot like it is towards the end of summer or extrememe cold during the end of winter.

The Carlsbad Flower Fields

Image from here

This place has been on my list to visit for the longest time and I'll finally get to go with my friend this month! Situated in the beach city of Carlsbad, the Flower Fields have 50+ acres of beautiful flowers such as rununculus, roses and greenhouse full of poinsettias. There's also tractor rides and a sweet pea maze. Lot's of picture taking will be involved.

She & Him Vol. 2

I loved their last album, aptly titled Vol. and from what I have so far, it's an extention from that.
Hopefully I'll get to see them in concert sometime this year.

Alice in Wonderland
Tim Burton is a visionary and I can't wait to see his take on this classic fairy tale.
I don't have the time to go to NYC to see his exhibit at the MOMA, which runs trough April 26th. If you have seen it, what are your thoughts on it? Did it let you look inside the mind of Tim Burton?
I hope the exhibt makes its way to the west coast.

What are you looking forward to this month?

In the Sun...

I can't go a month without posting something about Zooey Deschanel because she's just the bee's knees. :P

Today is no exception. There's a new She & Him song out called "In the Sun" from their album appropriately titled, Volume 2, coming out on March 23rd.

The perfect song to listen to on this sunny, if slightly cold, day.

Go Into Your Dance

It's just another day at your bank job when a cutie in Wayfarers comes up to your station and hands you a note. What you hope will be his digits turns out to be a note stating he wants to rob the bank. Instead of panicking, you decide you'd rather dance with him in the back.
That's the case of this super cute video of Zooey and Joseph. Directed by (500) Days of Summer Marc Webb and set to She & Him's "Why Do You Let Me Stay Here?", it has this classic Old Hollywood dance number feel to it. Plus I love Zooey's dress. Will have to find out who makes it. All the more reason I need to make a trip down to San Diego and watch (500) Days of Summer.

Enjoy!
