I think I'm granny spectacles, a top knot and red lipstick away from going to hipster territory with this outfit. But I wanted to wear this dress without the formality of a cardigan or blazer and the chambray shirt is the perfect balance to it.

I wore this on Saturday to got to an informational meeting to be a volunteer for the Temecula Valley International Film & Music Festival in September. In the 17 years that the film festival has taken place, this will be the first time that I will be volunteering. I've always thought about volunteering, but never too the initiative to. So know I'm doing it and it's going to be a fun and interesting experience. Plus I'll have a chance to watch all the feature films and shorts that will be shown at the festival. It'll also be the first thing I can cross off in my 30 Before 30 list. Yay!

I hung the around the theater where the meeting took place afterwards and caught the first Saturday screening of Fright Night  which I really enjoyed. So much that I wrote a review and I'm thinking of watching it again this week. What I'm also hoping to accomplish this week; making a few more necklaces and listing them along with some other items, a trip to the post office, writing a guest post, and finally finishing up reading Bossy Pants. It's been three months since I last read it and it's less than 300 pages. I should be done with it by now.

Today was the first day where I felt my face wasn't going to melt off. I don't know how those who live in humid states do it. I'd rather have dry heat although cooler weather would be best. This is a slight variation of the same outfit I wore back in April, but instead of the coral skirt I swapped it with this greyish/brown skirt. Makes it a little more suited for fall with all this brown going on. Stylish UPS driver perhaps?

So last year I finally opened my Etsy store, Moon Pie Vintage. The thing is though I only listed two items and then let my shop lay dormant for a year. But no more. As part of one of my 30 before 30 goals, I'm finally going through my bins of items I bought for the store and I will be listing them throughout this week. I already made one sale and I only have 98 more before I make my goal of selling 100 items before May 23rd of next year.
Here are some items currently in the shop:

Winnie Heels Size 9 AA (narrow width)
The Prepster Purse

Dosey Doe Purse
Mad for Plaid Purse
Also, a couple of months ago I turned in an application to participate in a styling contest at my local mall. I forgot about until last week, when I got an e-mail from the marketing director of the mall informing me that I was selected for the contest this month. Of course I was ecstatic when I found out and said yes to participating in it. I'll have a more detailed post about it tomorrow, but I will say it's awesome to be given a mall gift card to go shopping.

30 Before 30: Take 2

About 6 months ago, I posted my 30 before 30 list, which is basically a bucket list for my 20's. I wanted to give myself a year and a half to finish everything. Unfortunately though, I have yet to cross off one thing on the list.  But with my birthday looming right around the corner, which just happens to be today, I decided to revise some of the things on my list. One thing I changed was all the trips I wanted to take. Unless I find some rich sugar daddy in the next two months, that is not going to happen.
Without further ado, here is my slightly altered 30 before 30 list...

My 30 before 30

  1. Run a marathon
  2. Learn to play a musical instrument
  3. Pay off all of my credit card debt
  4. Have at least $5,000 in my savings
  5. Go back to school
  6. Finally have my coup d'etat playlist make it on the airwaves of 94.9
  7. Face my fear of the ocean and learn how to surf
  8. Watch all movies in the AFI Top 100 Films of all time list
  9. Become conversationally fluent in Tagalog
  10. Go to Vegas
  11. Volunteer with Habitat for Humanity

  19. Visit a state I’ve never been to.
  20. Go skydiving
  21. Try to get on The Amazing Race
  22. Watch all of the movies on the AFI Top 100 Movies of All Time
  23. Perform at an open mic night

  29. Learn how to swim
  30.  Somehow meet my #1 girl crush: Zooey Deschanel
When I reach each of these little milestones, I'll cross it off and write a post about it. I'm crossing my fingers that my 29th year will be awesome.

What's on your 30 Before 30 list?

It Takes Two

30x30 Items:
3) Old Navy Top
11) Target Chambray Skirt
27) Elle for Kohl's Tan Lace-up Boots

The Icing:
Old Navy Tan Studded Belt
Forever 21 Bracelet and Necklace
Target Brown Socks

I'm now in my flannel pj's and thermal, so comfy, but earlier today I wore this to run some errands with my mom. I was going to wear a different outfit, but I realized I was lacking a short enough slip to wear under my cream lace skirt. Yeah it's lined but that lined. Do undergarments count towards the shopping band?
So some disappointing news. I might have to sell my ticket to Coachella. :( One of my friends that was going to go with me didn't get her ticket before it sold out. I don't know any of my other friends that are going and I really don't want to go to Coachella by myself. I think it's an experience that should be shared with friends. Sigh. But... I did find out that Comic-con tickets will finally go on sale this Friday! It took them long enough to get their stuff together, but now my brother and I can get our tickets. At least this time around I know what to expect plus I would like to dress up in costume for at least two of the four days.

As a little added fun, during the 30x30 I'll post the video that goes along with the song title I used in the post. Today it comes from one of my favorite musicals Into The Woods

Coachella!

The Coachella line up was announced today and it's pretty awesome. Something for everyone and I think this will be the year I go.
But between this, going to NYC for my sisters graduation and Comic-Con, it's going to be a very expensive first half of the year.

Once a Gemini, Always a Gemini

Did you hear? Apparently we've been reading the wrong horoscope this whole time due to the Earth shifting for the past 2,500. Now there's a 13th zodiac added to the mix, the Ophiuchus (a serpent) for those born on Nov. 29th to Dec. 17th.
So if I were to go by this, I would no longer be a Gemini and would instead be a Taurus.
Uh, yeah right and highly unlikely because I'm a Gemini through and through.

Anyways, this got me thinking to something I wanted to post last month but didn't have a chance to. December 23rd of last year marked a year and a half before I turn the big 3-0. Seriously people, where does all this time go? I have this weird mix of dread and excitement heading into that 3 decade milestone. Dread because it serves as a reminder that I'm not getting any younger, even if people think I'm younger than I really am. But excitement because I've heard that your 30's are the best years since you become more comfortable in your skin. I'm hoping more for the latter.
With that, I wanted to come up with a list of 30 things I want to accomplish before 05/23/12. Will I cross off everything on my list before that day? Who knows, but at least when my 30th does roll around, I will proudly say I was able to accomplish these things.

So here it goes in no particular order...

My 30 before 30
  1. Run a marathon
  2.  Learn to play a musical instrument
  3. Play at an open mic night
  4. Become a homeowner
  5. Go to Paris and England
  6. Experience New York Fashion Week
  7. Have at least $5,000 in my savings if not more
  8. Finally have my coup d'etat playlist make it on the airwaves of 94.9
  9. Face my slight fear of the ocean and learn how to surf
  10. See Radiohead in concert
  11. Watch all the movies on the AFI Top 100 of all time list
  12. Go to Hawaii
  13. Become conversationally fluent in Tagalog
  14. Visit my relatives in the Philippines and be able to converse with them
  15. Go on a cruise
  16. Take a cross country road-trip
  17. Go to Dollywood and hopefully get a picture with her
  18. Go wine tasting in Napa and have a dining experience at French Laundry
  19. Volunteer with Habitat for Humanity
  20. Go to Coachella
  21. Have a career and not just a job
  22. Take a more healthier lifestyle

  28. Go skydiving
  29. Go to trapeze school
  30. Meet Zooey Dechanel
