Tried on some things at Forever 21.

Didn't get any clothes, but I did get some sparkly bracelets.

I also went to the Apple store to check out the iPad2 which I still want to get. I was also supposed to go to the library, have the Hunger Games series on hold, but when I got there it was closed. Due to a bike race that was going on earlier that day. Blast, I wanted to start reading it. Oh well, it's not like I have a ton books I still have to read. :P

I think tomorrow I'm going to watch Rango and do a DIY project.

My first post 30 for 30 outfit. As you can tell, my jeans and shoes are from my 30 items. I'm slowly getting reacquainted with my closet. This is one of my favorite flannel tops and thinking back, I should have picked it as one of my items. Oh well, that's what the next 30 for 30 is for.

I also started some of my Christmas shopping at the local mall today. One of the stores I went into was Hot Topic. I remember when I was in high school being intimidated going in there because they would play loud death metal music and the employees wore mostly black and either had tattoos or multiple piercings. But when I went it there today, it wasn't death metal that I heard, it was a cover of Jay Sean's "Down" and as I was looking around the store, I saw that they were selling Justin Biber and Taylor Swift shirts. Heck, they were even selling her new album. I have nothing against them, but it's just weird seeing their images at that store.

I posted on my Facebook page, "Since when did Justin Biber and Taylor Swift become cool enough to have shirts at Hot Topic?" to which one of my friends replied, "They didn't. Welcome to capitalism."  

Welcome to capitalism indeed.

Catching Up

Wore this last Thursday when I went shopping to the mall with my mom. She was looking for some sandals for her trip to Vegas with my dad next month. They're going for a home and garden convention, so I don't have to worry about them getting too crazy. :P

I went because last week Sephora sent out 15% off coupons to their beauty insiders and with a $20 gift card burning in my wallet, it was time to have a mini Sephora splurge.

I ended up getting Miss Dior Cherie, travel sized Josie Maran Argon Oil Moisturizing Stick,  brow gel, and a brow brush.

I already have Miss Dior Cherie L'eau and wanted the original version as well. It also has a wonderful ad campaign directed by Sofia Coppola. 

The moisturizing stick is becoming one of my fast faves. I like how it's packed as a stick rather than in a pot, which makes it easier to apply on your cuticles, my problem area. Plus it doesn't have a strong scent and (along with the rest of her beauty line) is 100% organic.

Made my way down to San Diego earlier today to visit my friend Ashley. I've know her for the past 7 years when were working at the same store. Not only is she fun to hang out with, she's also my shopping partner in crime. When we were leaving her place her boyfriend told me to make sure she doesn't spend too much, in which I replied, "I don't know if I could that." Hehe. But we were both good and kept our purchases to a minimum. 

First we went to the Nordstrom Rack since she had to make some returns. I mainly perused through the shoe section. I was in sale shoe heaven. They had a lot of pretty shoes, still out of my price range of course. But it was fun to try on the ones in the Designer section.

I ended up trying on these Marni heels from their Fall '09 collection. I should have taken a picture of me wearing them because they were HIGH. I stood at 6 feet and almost had a case of vertigo. 

We then made our way down to Hillcrest and went to Buffalo Exchange. I was able to sell some of my clothes, but I also ended up purchasing three dresses. So it evens out. 

Ashley went in looking for dresses for all of the bridal party duties she will be having for her friends wedding in June, but didn't have any luck. She did find two cute tops though. I wish there was a Buffalo Exchange closer to me. We have a shop similar to it, but given the area where I live, filled with bros, trophy wives, and tweens,  the selection pales in comparison.

 

We ended the afternoon with cupcakes from Baby Cakes. They were just as good as the last time I was there. She got the red velvet with an iced mocha and I got the guava/mango with and blood orange Italian soda. I could smell the guava/mango essence as I was devouring it, plus it was really moist and had mango bits in it. This will be my go-to cupcake shop when I'm in the area. 

 I had a really good afternoon hanging out with an awesome friend.

"It's how the hustle goes, see what the jukebox knows..."

After my eventful concert experience and on the second day of three day weekend, I decided to do some thrift store shopping at the local Goodwill and scored some great deals. I found two really cute light wool blazers that were 50% off. The first one is this navy and green plaid. They have some major shoulder pads that I plan on taking out.

I also got this really cute bluish-gray blazer. It's a little tight on the arms but it was too cute to pass up,
so I plan on giving it to my sister.


I also got some new shoes. I've been eying them for some time and today during my lunch hour, I went to the Famous Footwear two stores away from where I work and bought them. Luckily they were on sale and with my 20% off coupon, I got them for around $50 bucks. Can't wait to wear them.


They have this 30's/40's vibe to them with the patent leather and ruffles down the front. I think they would look really cute with some jeans or khakis with the cuffs rolled up with a shirt and blazer/cardigan.



One more thing: I can just kick myself for not looking up when this was taken. I'm in the front row looking down next to the bald guy. I think I was trying to get a guitar pick or something. :-P
