Instaoutfits... Or is it Outfitgrams?

Even before my laptop died on me in July, I was getting tired of taking outfit pictures. The process of lugging my camera and tripod, finding a good location to set up, taking numerous shots to get a couple that looked decent, and then fixing it on a site like Pic Monkey. It was something I no longer wanted to do.
But as vain as it sounds, I missed posting my daily outfit photos. So I decided to start it up again, but keep it simpler. Three pictures taken by my phone, using PicFrame to make a collage, and posting it on Instagram. I've done this for the past few weeks and I really like the ease of it. So now you can follow my daily outfits over on Instagram and I 'm also going post my weeks previous outfits here. :)

I haven't blogged in a while, so what better way to get back into the swing of things with a no-fail outfit post.

This months Everybody, Everywear is neon. I don't really have neon in my closet and I didn't want to spend money on something I would probably wear once or twice. So I did the next best thing, I DIY'd it.

I have the ubiquitous lace skirt from Target that a lot of bloggers were wearing last year and with colored lace being popular this season, why not repurpose it? So I bought a box of Rit dye, in the brightest color I could find (besides yellow) and went to task of dying it. The box said it wasn't suitable for 100% polyester and synthetic fabrics, but I went for it anyway and I'm quite pleased with the results.
The slip didn't take to the dye too well, but I like how it's lighter than the lace. So now I have a brand new skirt that only cost me $2.29.

I wore this on Saturday for a movie and lunch date with a friend, where we watched The Avengers (fifth time for me and the first time for her) and ate shawarma afterwards. I also wore this work later that day and this is the closest I'll ever get to wearing running shoes at work. Also it's my last outfit post of my twenties, since tomorrow I'll be the big 3-0. It hasn't hit me yet and it's probably not going to be scary as I might make it out to be in my head, but it is weird knowing that I'm going to be in a different age bracket now. Tonight I'm going to the karaoke bar with some friends and tomorrow it's the beach. Thirties here I come! :P

I've had these shoes for a year now and they were starting to look a little worn.
So I decided to give it a little pick me up and add glitter to it. Shiny!

I unintentionally took a little blogging break last week (the Birthday Music Countdown is not included because those are all scheduled posts). I had so much stuff going on that sometimes the extent of my internet usage was either playing The Sims or posting music videos on Facebook, or re-blogging stuff from my favorite fandoms on Tumblr. I also feel like I have some bloggers block going on. I have topics I want to write about, but I never seem to know how to word it. It's that classic writer's syndrome where you think that your written word is never good enough. But I need to break through and I'm going to try by scheduling 15-20 minute blocks where I just write and not worry about how it being clever with my words. Hopefully that will bring in more posts besides my OOTD or Sunday Videos, which I've been mainly doing for the past few months.

But even with my writer woes, I had an awesome weekend. On Saturday after work, I went to a party, where I wore the above outfit, to celebrate a co-workers 21st birthday and it's some of the most fun I had in a while. I didn't get too crazy, (ie: I know for a fact that there will be no drunk pictures of me plastered on Facebook because I was not drunk at all. It's all about pacing yourself.) but I did get out of my shell a little bit. I still danced like crap, more Liz Lemon than Mike Chang, but I wasn't afraid to cut a rug. Plus I had more time to talk to this guy from work that I like and so far the prognosis is good. I got extra cool points from him because I knew that his favorite drink was from The Big Lebowski and my friend told me she noticed some flirting going on. Not going to over think about it, a major problem of mine, and just let things go where they may.

Anyways after mentioning my writers block, I have managed to write quite a bit in this post. Maybe I smashed through the writer's wall without even realizing it. Yay?!

I wore this outfit a week and a half ago and I'm finally getting around to posting it. Roosters on a dress is so random. It's not a bird you would immediately think of. Owls perhaps, but not roosters. I do have an affinity for quirky prints and color and my closet can attest to that. It hardly has any black and I don't wear too many all-black outfits. If I did wear all-back it's because my brain was mush in the morning and couldn't figure out what to wear. I could never be one of those who subscribes to a daily uniform. I like to mix up styles and see what works and what doesn't through fashion trial and error.

I feel like this season you can go to either end of the color spectrum. You can choose the bold colors of cobalt blue or tangerine to the soft pastels of baby pink or mint. For this outfit I'm channeling the latter. It also happens to be this months theme for Everybody, Everywear. I actually don't own too many pastels, but I was able to find  this top in my closet. Also I wore this outfit when I went to a BBQ Festival over the weekend and managed not to get anything on my tank top. I've had a striped jacket on my mental list of things I would like to have in my closet when I first saw this version on Whitney Port. I like how she mixed it up with the floral dress and even though it is a striped jacket, since it's a basic color sceme it can go with almost everything in my closet.

But I could never seem to find the right one. Either it would be too small, too expensive, or the stripe proportion was all wrong. This was becoming the Goldilocks of jackets. Then I found this one for a penny under $25. It's made out of cotton knit which makes it easy to wear year round and it also has a cute little peplum in the back, which makes this jacket just right. Also when I wore this outfit to work yesterday three of my co-workers were also wearing coral. Goes to show that any color in the orange family is going to be really popular this year.

I'm excited that it's finally sandals and skirts (sans tights) weather. I've been wearing pants exclusively for the past few months and my legs are ready for some sun. 
When I first saw this skirt, I immediately thought of last Spring's Prada collection. So this might be a year late, but oh well. I also felt very Roman Holiday with my outfit. Now I just need my Vespa and Gregory Peck look-a-like.
I've also found my new photo taking spot, until the flowers shed. I just have to remember to move the dog crate the next time I take a picture there. Cannot un see. :P

Pink Lady

I wore this last Friday, but I had this outfit stewing in my head two weeks prior and I was quite pleased with the way it turned out. I was also the only one wearing bright pink jeans in a sea of black and plaid when I went to go check out my co-workers band. Besides the show, this weekend was a good one. Even before I started work, I found out I won series 6 of Doctor Who on Blu-ray from via a Twitter contest from Geeksugar. I don't have a Blu-ray player, but my sister told me I should get a PS3 and maybe I'll treat myself and get one for my birthday. I also watched The Hunger Games on Saturday and I really liked it. It kept pretty true to the book, give a few changes. I'm actually going to watch it again today with my brother. I also finished Catching Fire and now I'm currently reading Mockingjay. After a long book reading hiatus, I'm finally back on the reading wagon.

This past weekend, I did a major closet purge and was able to donate two large garbage bags to my local Goodwill. It felt so good just getting rid of things I never wore and was probably never going to wear. While I was cleaning my closet, I found this dress smushed in between some other dresses and its the tag was still attached. The dress is a good 5-7 years old because I got it from Mervyn's before the company folded and all its stores closed and now I'm finally wearing it. I might have to thank Everybody, Everywear for that.

The Geek in the Pink

Cardigan, Pink Jeans, and Oxfords: Old navy

Although colored jeans isn't exactly a new trend, it's certainly making its mark this year. You can't go into any retail outlet without finding jeans in brightly colored hues. I already have some colored jeans, but nothing this bright. I wasn't sure if this color would look good on me because it's a lot of pink bound to my legs. But I really like it and it's such a fun spring color to wear. For this outfit I decided to keep it simple but still interesting by layering my white leopard top with my grey leopard cardigan. The next time I wear it, I'll add a contrasting color with it. Purple or green perhaps?

I also finally have some nude shoes, well more like nude oxfords. They don't make me look taller (that only applies to heels), but hopefully people won't think that I'm walking around barefoot.
