Pumped Up Kicks

One of the first pictures that I pinned on my Pinterest were these glittery Miu Miu sneakers. 

I've been wanting to re-create them and I finally did this week. So my grungy looking Chucks went from this...

To this...

I used the tutorial from Honestly WTF to make these sparklers, but changed some things a bit. I didn't have the fancy rhinestones in settings so I used the regular rhinestones. Also I used gold ribbon for the laces. Since the shoes I used are slip-ons, I had to fake out the bottom three holes with the ribbon and some glue. Of course if you use full lace-ups, you won't run into this problem. 


This is a great way to give new life to an old pair of shoes. Plus if you hit the sales or use the coupons from your local craft store, you can do this project for under $15. 


 I'm so stoked with the way they turned out that I'll be wearing them when I go to Disneyland today!

So I haven't spent $40,000 on shoes and I don't think I ever will, well maybe if I win the lottery.

But I have bought my fair share of shoes. They can help make or break an outfit and it takes a while to find the perfect pair.  But when you find the shoe that's a perfect fit, it will always stay that way.

Which brings us to this weeks Friend Friday questions. It's all about the things we'd be willing to pay $$$ on our feet.

1.What is your go-to pair of shoes?
I have to say my flats. Since where I used to work had a harder floor surface, flats worked the best for moving about. But I also have a pair of black wedges that I got from Payless that I wear all the time. They were low enough that I can wear them without my feet aching at the end of the day.


2. What goes into your shoe buying decisions? 

• Shape of the shoe- Lean more towards round or almond shaped.
• Heel height- Usually 3 inches or below. But if it’s higher than that, then it needs to have a thick heel and a platform. No heels that can double as a nail.
• Comfort- Can’t have an super high arch unless there is a lot of padding.
• Color- I try to get shoes in colors I know that I will wear a lot.
• Price- The ideal price point is $75 and under.


3. The majority of the shoes in your closet are what color?
I would have to say black. Which is surprising since I don't really own a lot of black clothing but black shoes comprises a majority of my closet. 



4. When it comes to designer shoes what are your favorite brands and why?
Louboutin’s are on the top of my list. Who doesn’t like the red soles? I also really like Mui Mui shoes. They look so fun and whimsical. For more down to earth prices, I really like Steve Madden, BC, Converse and Aldo.

5. If price wasn’t an issue, you’d own which shoe?
It would definitely be a pair of Christian Louboutin’s. I would have one in a more wearable style and another where I would just wear for special occasions. But I would put them on display just so I can admire them everyday.

Put Some New Shoes On

Bows on My Fingers, Bows on My Toes

About a month ago, I posted about these Opening Ceremony beauties

They happen to be way out of my price range. However a light bulb went off and I realized can I turn this into a diy project.  

I happen to score these Faryl Robin wedges at Daffy's in NYC about a year ago for only $10. The criss-cross straps are the perfect base to add bows. 

 

 So after 16 ft of ribbon, and a few hours of sewing while switching between watching Ice Dancing on the Olympics and Masterpiece Theaters most current adaption of Jane Austen's Persuasion, I finished these cuties...

They are not exactly like the Opening Ceremony ones, but they're in the same spirit. Plus they look so cute and whimiscal on. 

I hot glued the bows to the shoes. I'm thinking of getting shoe clips to attach the bows, but I might just keep it how it is. 

 

These will be my statement shoes. I'm going to see what other shoes are being underutilized in my closet for more diy projects. 

Also about a week ago, Sara from LuShae Jewelry contacted me and I got to pick a piece from their website. They had some wonderful necklaces, rings and earrings, but I decided to pick a ring. I don't usually wear rings, I chose this super cute dangling heart bow ring.

It's the perfect size that I can wear it everyday although I wish the bow was at little bit bigger. But other than that, really like it and I've already gotten compliments on it.

It also came in a nice box, perfect for gifting.

After my eventful concert experience and on the second day of three day weekend, I decided to do some thrift store shopping at the local Goodwill and scored some great deals. I found two really cute light wool blazers that were 50% off. The first one is this navy and green plaid. They have some major shoulder pads that I plan on taking out.

I also got this really cute bluish-gray blazer. It's a little tight on the arms but it was too cute to pass up,
so I plan on giving it to my sister.


I also got some new shoes. I've been eying them for some time and today during my lunch hour, I went to the Famous Footwear two stores away from where I work and bought them. Luckily they were on sale and with my 20% off coupon, I got them for around $50 bucks. Can't wait to wear them.


They have this 30's/40's vibe to them with the patent leather and ruffles down the front. I think they would look really cute with some jeans or khakis with the cuffs rolled up with a shirt and blazer/cardigan.



One more thing: I can just kick myself for not looking up when this was taken. I'm in the front row looking down next to the bald guy. I think I was trying to get a guitar pick or something. :-P

Just around the corner...

As much as I love summer, like the other bloggers out there, I can't wait for fall. Even if fall in So. Cal comes later in the year. Maybe because once we hit fall, it's a signaling for the end of the year.

It's our last time to stop and take a breath before the madness of the holiday season encroaches upon us. Another great thing about fall being around the corner, is see all of the new fall fashions.
I happen to receive the fall Anthropologie Catalog in the mail today and they had some really cute, if extremely expensive clothes. Here are some of my faves...

I also went into Payless the other day and they actually had some pretty cute shoes this time around.
These are on the short list of what I want to get...

Madison Button Ankle Boot - I love the Victorian styling to it.

Koko Gilley Pump - Not only do I love the color,
it would really stand out with black, grey and navy, but I like the name of the shoe.
It sounds like the name of someone that would have been in the party scene in Breakfast at Tiffany's

Harlee Oxford Pump - Love the black and white contrast.
I would wear it with black tights.

One could dream...

Just like Carrie Bradshaw and almost any girl, I'm completely obsessed with shoes. It's one of those wardrobe staples that will never let you down and will make any old outfit new again.

Plus we might get rid of an ill-fitting dress, but shoes that pinch our toes? Never.

If money was no object, I would definitely like to add these lovely shoes to my collection.

These Miu Miu shoes have that fun 40's vibe.

What I would call my "rocker shoes." Would look amazing with skinny jeans.

I would pair this with a high-waisted black pencil skirt and white button down shirt.
