The Summer List

With Spring finally here and Summer quickly approaching, I decided to make a list of things I want to accomplish before Labor Day.

1) Go to the beach at least three times a month.
2) Read 10 books that have yet to touch on my bookshelf.
3) Watch all the movies on the AFI 100 list.
4) Visit the Getty Center and Huntington Gardens.
5) Participate in a 5K.
6) Repaint all the furniture in my room.
7) Spend the day at the Carlsbad flower fields.
8) Buy a ukulele and learn how to play it.
9) Go paddle boarding.
10) Take a mini-roadtrip.
11) Attend my first baseball game.
12) Go to the San Diego County Fair.
13) Take in a concert at the Hollywood Bowl.
14) Sew a dress.

What are your spring/summer goals?

Spring Has Sprung

It finally feels like spring is here. There are so many flowers blooming around my house, it reminds me that I need to go visit a botanical garden or the Carlsbad Flower Fields soon. 

Calvin Klein Spring 2012

In the opposite end of the spectrum of the color and flourishes of Rodarte's spring collection is Francisco Costa's Calvin Klein spring offerings.

When it comes to clothing, I'm not a minimalist. I like all the flourishes and embellishments that is a part of a garment and I have more prints than solids in my closet. But I just loved the simplicity of this collection because the clothes speak for themselves. I also love how the clothes skim the body instead of binding it like the ubiquitous bandage dresses. It's sexy without being overt. Sexy minimalist is what I would call it.

Rodarte Spring 2012

Can I just say how much I love Rodarte's van Gogh inspired spring collection? The dresses are just breathtaking and I love how they used the van Gogh's color palette. I also like how they used origami style folds in some of their looks for a bit of a Japanese influence.

I'll be owning one of these dresses only in my dreams.

Backyard Exploring

It was another beautiful day, so I spent sometime outside taking pictures of the various flowers that are in my front and backyard. This is just a warm up to all the flowers I will see tomorrow.

I probably should by myself some flowers too. Add some life to my room.

Looking Forward: March

We're heading into March already and I can't be more happier. 

Spring

I always look forward to this season and the next three months in particular. I just love how the flowers are blooming and everything is green. Plus it's still warm, but not scorcing hot like it is towards the end of summer or extrememe cold during the end of winter.

The Carlsbad Flower Fields

This place has been on my list to visit for the longest time and I'll finally get to go with my friend this month! Situated in the beach city of Carlsbad, the Flower Fields have 50+ acres of beautiful flowers such as rununculus, roses and greenhouse full of poinsettias. There's also tractor rides and a sweet pea maze. Lot's of picture taking will be involved.

She & Him Vol. 2 

 

I loved their last album, aptly titled Vol. and from what I have so far, it's an extention from that. 

Hopefully I'll get to see them in concert sometime this year. 

Alice in Wonderland 

Tim Burton is a visionary and I can't wait to see his take on this classic fairy tale.

I don't have the time to go to NYC to see his exhibit at the MOMA, which runs trough April 26th. If you have seen it, what are your thoughts on it? Did it let you look inside the mind of Tim Burton?

I hope the exhibt makes its way to the west coast.

Flowers and Stripes

Last month I posted Forever 21's nautical look book and I finally took the plunge (no pun intended :P) and combined florals with stripes. I've had this tank top and skirt sitting in my closet for awhile. I need to shop my closet more so I can unearth more outfits. 

It was really warm today. But everything looked so green from the rain we had for the last few weeks. 

Also blossoms have started appearing on one of our Peach trees and it looks so pretty. Can't wait for spring. 

 

Also if you're wondering how I put the effects on my pictures, I used the site Picnik.com. I'm not that great at Photoshop, so this site is great to use. There's a bunch of different effects and styles to use. For these pictures I used the 1960's and vignette effects.

Ready For Spring Pt.2

The rain has passed and it's been clear skies for the past few days. It's still nippy outside and I can't wait when it gets a little warmer.
