Weekend Wars

It was nice having another weekend off and I didn't even request it which was even better. Here are two outfits I wore this weekend.

Striped Sweater: Old Navy
Jean Jacket: Gap
Floral Dress (worn as a skirt): We Heart Vera for Anthropolgie
Tights: Target
Boots: Forever 21
Necklace: Express
Bracelet: Loft

I wore this on Saturday to a co-workers baby shower. I was in charge of the cupcakes and I had it all planned out to bake them the night before. I usually use this recipe and never had problems with it, until now.  At first I thought it was because I using a cup of apple sauce with half a cup of vegetable oil and it was messing up the recipe. The cupcakes came out really dense, chewy and tasted floury. I also thought it was Paula Deen subconsciously telling me, "Why ya'll putting apple sauce to make it more healthy? Only oil and butter on my recipes please!" Then putting a curse to make them taste horrible.  I tried salving the first batch by making them into cake balls, but it couldn't be saved. So for the second batch, I skipped the apple sauce and stuck with the original recipe. But the cupcakes still came out dense and chewy. The next day I made a morning grocery store run to buy box mix and I have to say the third time the charm. Luckily the cream cheese frosting didn't have any mishaps and the cupcakes were a hit. I'm thinking it might have to do with the flour because I found out with the help of Google, that it does go bad.

Sweater Coat, Striped Shirt, Jeans and Belt: Old Navy
Necklace: Made by Laurel (won from her giveaway!)

I first wore this outfit on Friday, but decided to wear it yesterday when I went to the movies with my brother. We watched Sucker Punch and I have to say I was a little disappointed. It a fun action movie, but I wish I got to know the characters more. Find out why the girls, besides Babydoll, where placed in Lennox house in the first place and other story related holes.
Have you ever been disappointed by a movie you really wanted to see?

Sorry about your cupcakes! I'm glad to hear that you finally had a successful batch though.

I really like the colors and pattern of the dress you wore as a skirt! So pretty

YAY! Your necklace! :) I love the stripes under a long cardi. I recently got my first stripes shirt because it's always been a personal rule not to wear them since I read in Seventeen at a very young age that horizontal stripes make you look wider. This year, I got the courage to get not only a striped shirt but one with puffed sleeves that accentuates my wide shoulders. Whopbop-a-loubop-a-wopbam-boom. :) I'm sad to hear that about Sucker Punch because I really wanted it to be a KickAss movie (pun intended) like ... ahem... Kickass and Scott Pilgrim.

Don't be afraid of the stripes! I love them too much that I don't care if they make me look wider in pictures. Have you worn the shirt in any of your outfit posts yet, if not you should. Kickass and Scott Pilgrim were both really good movies and I was going in with the expectation that Sucker Punch would be too. I mean it's by the guy who directed 300 which I heard is really good. It just needed a better storyline/plot and it would have been good.

That's a bummer about Sucker Punch, I've been looking forward to seeing it too! I'll probably still go this weekend. Anyway, I also like the red+white+blue combo in that second outfit!
