Dance with me...

I remember when I was younger I wanted to be a ballerina, or at least dress the part. Their outfits were exquisite and not only did they have grace and poise, but strength as well. I was reminded of my ballet dreams when I happen to come across The Red Shoes on TMC earlier today.

Based upon the tale by Hans Christian Andersen, the movie is about a young ballerina Victoria Page (Moira Shearer) who is torn between Boris Lermontov, (Anton Walbrook) her charismatic ballet impressario and Julian Craster (Marius Goring), the composer of "The Red Shoes." Directed by Michael Powell, it's a visually stunning film, espcially during the The Red Shoes ballet sequence.
There's a great review of the film by Matthew Dessem of The Criterion Contraption. The movie also inspired me to create this outfit on Polyvore:
