Yesterday, I had to make a trip down to Escondido. As I was getting ready to leave my house, I remembered that there was a really great doughnut shop there.

It was when I was in high school during my AP Government class. Krispy Kreme started opening shops in the area and on some random tangent (we had a lot of those in that class) we started talking about doughnuts. My teacher was telling us about Peterson's Doughnut Corner, where the doughnuts were so big, that they looked like they were on steroids. One day some of my classmates went to Krispy Kreme and Peterson's and brought doughnuts so we can have a taste test and find out which one was better. Peterson's was the big winner.
I'm thinking that we might have learned something about the government on that day from this experiment.

It's been 10 years since then and I thought why not make a stop. So I did and I have to say it's one of the best doughnuts I have ever ate.
It's located on the corner of 9th and 10th street on S. Escondido Blvd. in Escondido and the cool thing about it that they have this large window where you can see all the doughnuts. It was tough trying to decide what doughnuts to get but I ended up getting a iced cake and a raspberry filled doughnut with a milk. These doughnuts are not your regular small doughnuts. They have to be at least 3-4 inches in diameter and they were pretty hefty.
Homer Simpson would love this doughnut shop.
However when I took a bite into the cake doughnut, it wasn't as dense as I thought it was. Instead it was light and fluffy and not too sweet. The icing and sprinkles made up for that. I saved the raspberry filled one for later and when I ate that, the dough was a little more dense and there was a lot of filling. I couldn't finish that one. I'll stick to the cake doughnuts.
When I go to San Diego, I will definitely make a stop here again.

We don't have much selection for doughnuts here is Brisbane, we only got Krispy Kremes here in the last 18 MONTHS!! So Krispy Kremes would have to be my favourite. But at the moment it feels like there are Cupcake Shops popping up everywhere... although I am definitely not complaining I LOVE CUPCAKES!!

We don't have much selection for doughnuts here is Brisbane, we only got Krispy Kremes here in the last 18 MONTHS!! So Krispy Kremes would have to be my favourite. But at the moment it feels like there are Cupcake Shops popping up everywhere... although I am definitely not complaining I LOVE CUPCAKES!!
