Polka-Dots

Dress: Semi-homemade
Jacket: Gap
Necklace: Marc by Marc Jacobs

Flats: Old Navy

Went to my old co-workers house earlier today for her baby shower. Her mom was hosting the shower and since she's vegetarian, we had vegetarian"meatballs" and "sushi," which was actually good. Plus there were a lot of sweets like cupcakes and cookies, so it balances out.
I wore a dress that I made myself a couple of months ago. Well it's semi-homemade. I really like the dresses that have the tank top with the attached skirt, so I decided to try to make one myself.

Bought the tank from work and the fabric from Jo-Ann's. All I did was make little pleats on the top of the fabric, which was easy since the polka-dots was my guide for lining the top. Then I sewed the tank about a 1/4 up from the hem with the skirt. I had to adjust the straps since the tank fabric is a on the thin side and the fabric skirt is a little heavy. Just have to add some buttons to where I made the adjustments.

But I'm happy with the results. With the top pleating the skirt does poof out a little. All the more reason to find a petticoat to wear under it. It did have a 60's country feel to it. I tried having big curly hair to go with it. But my hair was flat by the time I got out of the car! Plus it's perfect to spin around in!

I also wore this Marc by Marc Jacobs necklace that I got for a really good deal at TJMaxx. I think it's supposed to be an eggplant. But I like the colors and it's large enough to wear on its own.

I also found out that one of my local movie theaters is having a Valentine's Day screening of It Happened One Night. I have never seen it before, so what a perfect way to treat myself and see the very dashing Clark Gable on the big screen, again.
(The same theater showed Gone with the Wind last year.)
